This Privacy Policy describes how Thirsty Thursday Picks ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and protects the personal information of users of our sports contest application at https://www.thirstythursdaypicks.com.

1. How Users Opt In to SMS Messages

Providing a mobile number and consenting to SMS is optional and is not required to access or use the app. Consent to receive SMS messages is not a condition of account creation, contest participation, or use of the app. Users receive SMS only after direct consent, which is recorded through the web form or obtained personally by a commissioner who knows the participant.

Opt-In Method: Thirsty Thursday Picks is an invitation-only application. A contest commissioner — a trusted person who personally knows each participant — invites members to join their private group. A member may receive SMS only after giving direct consent, either by submitting the opt-in form at https://www.thirstythursdaypicks.com/opt-in or by directly consenting to a commissioner who personally knows them and then enters their number on the member's behalf. In either case, the member's consent to receive SMS text messages from Thirsty Thursday Picks is recorded with a timestamp.

No unsolicited messages are ever sent. All recipients are personal contacts of the commissioner who have explicitly agreed to participate.

2. SMS Message Types

Once opted in, members may receive the following types of SMS messages:

Contest Invitation — a text with a personalized link to submit picks when a new contest is created
Pick Reminder — a reminder text approximately 2 hours before picks lock, sent only to members who have not yet submitted
Results Recap — a final results summary text when the contest concludes

Message Frequency: Typically 2–4 messages per contest. Frequency varies based on contest activity.

To resume SMS: If you have previously opted out and wish to receive messages again, submit a new consent request at https://www.thirstythursdaypicks.com/opt-in or contact the commissioner who invited you.

To opt out: Reply STOP, STOPALL, UNSUBSCRIBE, CANCEL, END, QUIT, OPTOUT, or REVOKE to any message, or contact the commissioner who invited you and ask to be removed from the group. You will receive no further messages once removed.

3. Information We Collect

We collect the following information when provided by a contest commissioner:

Name — used to identify you in contest standings
Mobile phone number — used solely to send contest-related SMS notifications
Game picks — your selections for sports contest games

For commissioner and admin accounts, we also collect a username and encrypted password.

4. How We Use Your Information

Your mobile phone number is used only to send SMS messages related to contests you have been invited to
Your name is displayed on contest leaderboards visible to other members of your group
Your game picks are stored and used to compute contest standings

5. Information Sharing

We do not sell, rent, trade, or share your mobile phone number or any personal information with third parties for marketing purposes.

SMS messages are delivered through Twilio, Inc., our messaging service provider. Twilio receives your phone number solely for message delivery. Twilio's privacy policy: twilio.com/legal/privacy.

6. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored securely in Microsoft Azure cloud infrastructure in the United States. We implement reasonable technical measures to protect your personal information.

7. Data Retention

Your personal information is retained as long as you are an active member of a contest group. You may request deletion by contacting us at delanedp@yahoo.com.

8. Children's Privacy

Thirsty Thursday Picks is intended for users 18 years of age and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 18.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected on this page with an updated effective date.
